The new version features powerful functionality for the deployment and management of mobile IT policies and substantial enhancements to its application versioning capability for BlackBerry handhelds within large enterprises.

The new version of MSM enables Blackberry System Administrators to easily and quickly target user communities for IT Policy deployment by integrating MSM with the organization's Directory Services. Flexible business rules determine how to resolve potential conflicts when users are members of multiple communities within a large organization.

Individual IT policy rules can be associated with groups, applications, or individuals. A robust IT Policy and rule inheritance model vastly reduces the effort to ensure each user has the correct policy on their device. Once the business rules for IT Policies have been defined, MSM automatically deploys the correct policy to existing users; and to new users at activation time. When an individual changes their department or role within the organization, MSM detects the change and automatically updates the relevant IT Policy on the device to reflect the new role or assignment.
